Akbar's Secret Visit to Mirabai

Although Akbar was a Muslim, he liked the Hindu spirituality and culture immensely. At his court, he retained all kinds of talented and extraordinary people from various religions. Akbar always appreciated others' good qualities. In the course of time, he came to hear about Mirabai, the great devotee of Lord Krishna. The bhajans that she sang became known throughout the length and breadth of India. Akbar decided to go and see her for himself.

At first, it seemed impossible for the Emperor to fulfil his wish. Mirabai was married to Prince Bhoja Raj of Chittor. This family and the Moghul Emperors had always been the worst of enemies! If Akbar went to see Mirabai, he would be risking his life and he would also be placing Mirabai herself in great danger. But Akbar was determined to go. He said, "I will not go as the Emperor with my army. I will go in disguise."

So he and his court musician, Tansen, dressed themselves in ochre robes like wandering sannyasins. In this disguise, they approached the temple where Mirabai was worshipping. In the temple, devotees were singing and dancing. Right in the centre was Mirabai, singing most soulfully.

Akbar and Tansen were deeply moved by Mirabai's beautiful voice and her soulful prayers to God. To show his gratitude, Akbar placed a diamond necklace at the feet of Mirabai's little statue of Lord Krishna. Those who were present were amazed at the mendicant's gesture. They wondered if perhaps somebody quite rich had come in the form of a mendicant. After Akbar had made his offering, he and Tansen quietly slipped away.

In a few days' time, it became known that it was the Emperor himself who had come. Mirabai's husband became enraged and said to his wife, "You have incurred the worst possible sin. You are a Hindu princess, but you have allowed a Muslim to look at your face. I can look at you no more. You have to go to the river and drown yourself!"

Poor Mirabai! She was so miserable at this turn of events. She was not responsible for what had happened. But even so, she was ready to enter into the river and commit suicide. She walked towards the river, accompanied by some of her followers and devotees. She was about to enter into the river when Lord Krishna appeared and grabbed her. He said to his dearest devotee, "No, I do not want you to commit suicide. You have done nothing wrong. Please leave this place and come to Brindaban. There you will see Me."

So Mirabai left her husband and, with a few followers, went to Brindaban.

You have a flowering center within. That's why Hindus call it a lotus - it is a flowering. They call it the one-thousand-petaled-lotus. One thousand means infinite petals. And it goes on flowering, it never stops, it never dies.

Once Buddha was walking from one town to another townwith a few of his followers. This was in the initial days. While theywere traveling, they happened to pass a lake. They stopped there andBuddha told one of his disciples, “I am thirsty. Do get me some waterfrom that lake there.”
The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reachedit, he noticed that right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossingthrough the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy, very turbid.The disciple thought, “How can I give this muddy water to Buddhato drink!”
So he came back and told Buddha, “The water in thereis very muddy. I don’t think it is fit to drink.” After about half anhour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get himsome water to drink. The disciple obediently went back to the lake.
This time too he found that the lake was muddy. Hereturned and informed Buddha about the same. After sometime, again Buddha askedthe same disciple to go back.
The disciple reached the lake to find the lakeabsolutely clean and clear with pure water in it. The mud had settled downand the water above it looked fit to be had. So he collected some water ina pot and brought it to Buddha.
Buddhalooked at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said,” Seewhat you did to make the water clean. You let it be…. and the mud settleddown on its own – and you got clear water.

Your mind is also like that! When it isdisturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on itsown. You don’t have to put in any effort to calm it down. It will happen.It is effortless.”
What did Buddha emphasize here? He said, “It iseffortless.” Having ‘Peace of Mind’ is not a strenuous job; it is an effortless process!
In life everything goes on.......... ......Keep Going.

how do people come to know and judge ?
can any one just see a pattern of behaviour and judge abt the abundance within ?
Enlightenment is totally a personal ..very private matter ,
which happens only between a seeker and Ultimate lord or sadguru .
no one else can know and judge abt it .
the world can knw abt an Enlighted soul only whn he announces it .
or whn his sadguru reveals ...,
how can any one judge abt ones enlightenment ...?
after enlightenment one happens in totally abundant energy ,
there happens no fixed pattern of behaviour .
you can be anything ,any one ...,
DO THE ULTIMATE LIGHT HAS ANY FIXED PATTERN OF BEHAVIOUR ?

playing any role ,doing any thing .

neo sanyaas.......first rebels

On 26 September, 1970 Osho started his Neo-Sannyas movement in Manali, India. Above is the photo of first rebels who took Sannyas from Osho.

A - Ma Laxmi. She was first secretary of Osho and she was the one who had found the location where current Osho Puna resort is situated. Her brief biography is available at OshoWorld. I have enjoyed the book very much and would like to recommend it to my friends too. She was a dedicated disciple and devotee of Osho and I feel, she has attained to buddhahood too. My gratitute to her for doing so much work for Osho.

B - Ma Dharam Jyoti takes meditation camps at Oshodham and OshoNisarga. She has written a small book containing 100 stories about the time she spend with Osho. Book is beautiful and available at oshoworld.com

L - Swami Chaitanya Bharti conducts meditation camps in India and is presently busy in making his ashram in mysore. He has a website named dhyanleela.com and He is one of those few people who have announced his enlightenment. He was the first one to leave Osho puna ashram in 1992 over the differences about the functioning of Ashram.

M - Ma Anand Madhu was again a sincere disciple of Osho. Last I heard about her was that she is spending time in isolation, Haridwar in north india. She was not keeping well and a nurse was taking care of her. I also heard she is not interacting with any one and is preferring to stay in silence.

N - Swami Yog Chinmaya has moved into isolation and is not into limelight. Last I heard about him was his article in Sannyasworld.com and where he has expressed his views on Osho copyright case. He has an ashram at Bagheswar in India. Swami Yog Chinmaya was a from a yoga background and he himself has a small following when he started listening to Osho. Swami Yog Chinmaya has asked most intelluctals question from Osho and he was a very sincere as well as serious seeker and Osho used to hammer him for his seriousness. I feel, he has one Samadhi experience.
